LOMCT (Learning Object Metadata Crowd Tagging) is a e-learning platform designed to enhance the discoverability and searchability of learning objects such as videos, courses, and documents. It achieves this by leveraging a crowd of users to tag and review these resources with relevant keywords, descriptions, and ratings. The system combines a browser extension (for Chrome) and a Learning Record Store (LRS), enabling users to propose reviews and metadata updates for learning objects. These proposals, formatted using xAPI, are then stored in the LRS, allowing multiple users to collaborate on refining and improving the metadata associated with the learning content.

We needed to improve our existing learning object search system and make it simpler, clearer and more efficient.
Challenge
- The main challenge was to make navigation for Learning Objects repositories easier, and to locate relevant, high-quality materials. Users often struggle to find resources that meet their specific needs due to insufficient metadata, inconsistent tagging, and a lack of reliable quality assessments.
